1976-1982:
Grant Jones, vocals
Nigel Striker, keyboards
Ian Hurt, guitar
Cary Hall, drums
Dirk Lewis, bass

NOTES: Dirk Lewis committed suicide in 1983 after his acting career failed. His sole claim to fame was winning the All-Britain Freddy Fender lookalike contest. *** After turning down a chance to join Duran Duran, Ian Hurt has long worked as a chemical engineer in the London area. *** Cary Hall recently retired from his job as a guard in Her Majesty's prison system. He declined to join The Beefeaters reunion, having given up music after Dirk Lewis' tragic death.

1984-1986:
Grant Jones, vocals
Nigel Striker, keyboards
Stig O' Death, guitar
Thaddeus Clyde, drums
Trevor Hurt, bass

NOTES: Thaddeus Clyde went on to form a band called The Melisma Zen. He now teaches music in Amsterdam.

1987-2005:
After the second line-up fell apart, Grant wandered through Europe, singing with pick-up bands under The Beefeaters name. Most of these gigs were at small clubs or private parties. Here are some of the musicians Grant remembers:

Big Joe Vrtacnik, drums - "I nicknamed him 'the Croatian Crusher' because he played drums like he was trying to kill them."

Beata Farkas, guitar - "The only bird to ever play in The Beefeaters! She was from this little town in Romania called Targu Mures and played just like Wilko Johnson."

Grant and Terry in the Berlin U-Bahn, Christmas Day 2006
Terry Thrasher, keyboards - "Good Irish lad who ended up in Latvia. The birds there were just too hot for him to leave."

Boris Blitzkrieg, guitar - "Great stage name! He could have been a star but his girlfriend left him and he was so upset that he joined the Russian army. Hello, Chechnya!"

The Beefeaters (1997, 2006-present)
The 1984-86 version of the band reunited briefly in 1997. The current version features mostly the same members as the second line-up, but with Nigel Striker on drums, Grant on rhythm guitar and no regular keyboard player.
